How does one break an ER32 collet? I have only ER25 collets, but I assume they
break the same way, so it would be good to know.

No idea. Ive bits and pieces of old sets and when I removed it from the
collet holder, it came out in two pieces. It was at least 20 yrs old
and came from a shop that did a lot of interupted cuts. Shrug

And it was an import best as I can tell. Valanite holder..mix of good
and bad brands of collets. Shrug again.
