I have read all these posts. This is NOT an application for an electronic
Tach. Use a mechanical Tach. They come in 1-1 and 2-1 flavors and are very
accurate at low speeds.

I hear ya, but don't see any offerings. Do you have an example product?

karl,
I have a favorite boneyard for industrial machinery near by. He has several.
I will look if you like. He is inexpensive, but the cost will be the drive,
as you will have to make that. Most of his will be 2-1, as they are meant
for diesels. They will accept the standard square drive cable. I would guess
his price will be around $30.

Why is such accuracy needed in a tractor? If you are driving an
alternator get the cps from the load.

I will use it to apply fungicide and insecticide. I can get away with using
1/2 what the label calls for but not 3/8. These companies call out higher
rates just because most don't apply accurately. In my case, I save about $3K
per year. Plus, its good for the environment, yada yada.
