I have acquired a Homelite 3500W generator, model 176A35-1C UT-03598.
The Homelite web site has no information on this model. I have
downloaded the parts list and owner's manual on the engine (B&S 195432)
and would like to get the rest of the information. I would be happy to
pay copying and postage costs.

A related question- the engine reportedly worked fine before storage and
now won't run for more than a few seconds after injecting starting
fluid, indicating a carb cleaning in the future. Looking at the engine
manual, B&S recommends running the fuel lines dry if gasohol is used.
Around here, 10% alcohol is what you get at the pump. Will fuel
stabilizer allow gasohol to be left in the fuel lines for a reasonable
length of time?

Good luck on getting a manual! I was a dealer for some time and since then
the Homelite name has gone to the highest bidder. The homeowner products are
no longer made in the USA, it was sold of to the same conglomerate that owns
Ryobi. As for the engine, a B&S engine manual should be easy to find, at the
local repair shop or online. I can dig through my stuff, but I think
everything went to microfiche before that model came out.

The generator was made during Homelite's Textron incarnation. The date
code on the engine is 1981. On the whole, it appears to be of a better
quality than similar sized units made today. No plastic. I will find out
if the Chinese product of the moment would have been a better choice.
At least parts are available for a Briggs engine.

That puts me in the right era. I was a dealer from '84 through '89. I may
have a manual stuffed away out in the shop.
