        This suggests that you need to be looking at European dial
indicators -- perhaps with eBay auctions.

Perhaps check out the new $20 or so digital dial indicator that Harbor
Freight has? Not sure what size it is, but at that price you can afford
to modify it.

Karl, consider dismantling the indicator, fixturing up the
body, and turning down the shank to your desired size. If
you feel funny about it, try it on a junker first.
