Got it home today, or rather into storage.
I ended up hiring a twin axle trailer from Indespension in Ipswich,
and a 3/4T high-lift engine crane, and it turned out to be a piece of
cake.
Took the splashguards off and looked on the bed for a likely spot to
put the sling round, and noticed that Colchester kindly put a 5/8" or
so hole through both sides of the casting at the balance point.
Bit of bar through the hole and the strap over both ends, D shackle in
the middle and up it came.
Wheeled it still suspended on the engine crane out the door and over
to the trailer, legs of the engine crane when straight underneath the
tailgate and lathe deposited neatly over the axles.
Almost took longer to strap it down then get it out and on the
trailer.
The only bad bit was getting round the M25 in the morning - the
120mile trip to pick it up took over 4 1/2 hours. Getting back was
only 2 1/2 hours.
