I offered $500. Too much?

It's an older machine and I can't quite read the serial number in the
picture. It looks like MJET13535 or it could be MJE713535. I'm not
sure.

Thoughts?

Is that a Dialarc HF for TIG or just a plain Dialarc?

If the former, it is a good price, if the latter, a "generous offer".

Truth be told, I'm not sure. If it is the latter, what would a 'good
price' be?

$200-300 at most for a minty machine, with leads/stinger

Now..this assumes that welders are fairly common in your area. If they
are as scarce as hens teeth...its a sellers market.

The last 2 Dialarcs I bought...cost me $75 each, but were sans leads
and cosmetically challenged..

As a basic AC/DC machine..they are very very hard to beat. Marvelous
basic machine, tough as hell, rugged, and all modes are a pleasure to
weld with. This is why so many of them were/are used in school
welding programs.

And why one has a permanant place under my welding table.
Good machines.

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional,
illogical liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an
unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the
proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Man! Where do you live that you've got all those welders around that
you're getting them for $75?!

Anyway, I went back and offered him $350 and he passed. Oh well.
I'll just keep my ear to the ground.
