Bruce, I think that it is amazing that these Miller Bobcats are so
powerful and so inexpensive new (such as Bobcat 250). Miller dealers
on eBay want $3,000 with free shipping, for a new one. Is there some
"gotcha" that we should be aware of? I am seriously considering
selling my Onan DJE (6 kW) and getting this bobcat instead (9
kW). This way, I would get more generator power, better package, and
ability to make money once in a while.

(search for "new miller bobcat 250" on eBay)

Same price range for the Lincoln equivalent. Of course those are gas
units, also check what RPM they run at, probably 3,600 vs. probably
1,800 for your Onan generator. If you want the Bobcat "D" diesel one it
will cost you more.

Nope on the rpm. Most gas welders weld rpm is 3000, power rpm is 1800
(divides down to give 60 Hz). Correct on diesel costing more.

I believe that there are fuel efficiency issues that make welder/gensets
less desirable as standalone generators.

Why is everyone prepending SEJW all of a sudden?

Operating RPM for one, and the fact that those prices are for gas
engines, not diesel.

One of the various ways to try to bypass spam, sporge, etc.
